Hoshinjutsu is the combative martial system of Hoshin Budo, an international modern martial arts organisation, focused on self-protection and self-development. Founded by Dr. Glenn J. Morris (1944-2006) and now led by his successor, Rob WIlliams, Hoshin includes a wide range of external and internal martial arts methods for self-discovery and development.
We are not a sports or competition-oriented school - we equip students to deal with the challenges of modern life. Hoshinjutsu teaches easily learned and immediately usable combative methods for dealing with armed and unarmed assailants. Ideal for civilians defending themselves from would be attackers, as well as military and law enforcement personnel, Hoshin has proven to be highly effective in real life confrontations.
Hoshin was originally created as an eclectic system of ancient and modern combat methodology and psychology. The system offers a path for physical development and emotional balance which enhances body and mind. Combat psychology and physiology are at the heart of Hoshin, with the combative aspect including training in strikes, throws, joint locks, grappling and an array of traditional and modern weapons.
Hoshin training includes meditative techniques for stress management, PTSD, creativity, focus, enhanced imagination, concentration and emotional balance and there is a complete system of bodywork and healing methods within Hoshin Budo.
Most importantly, while the subject matter of Hoshinjutsu training is serious, we strongly believe that training should be fun!

Hoshin training is available at the Ikigai Hoshin Dojo from ages 14 upwards. We are based in Warwickshire, in the heart of England, making us accessible from most parts of the UK. We also have a Virtual (Online) Dojo for those who wish to train with us but are not close enough to regularly attend in-person classes.
No previous martial arts experience is necessary and, as such, it is also ideal for adults who may think that they may have "missed the boat". All who have a genuine interest in learning a progressive art are welcome to train. Depending on location and preference, training can take place as part of regular classes, one to one private instruction, workshops and short courses, as well as themed seminars and retreats.
In-person classes take place on Tuesday evenings at Undō Studio in Kenilworth, Warickshire. Classes last for 1 hour.
Our Virtual Dojo is perfect for those who are unable to join regular in-person classes.
Our quarterly workshops cover particular themes and are a chance for Virtual Dojo members to get together to practice skills learned online in person.
